How to build an iPhone application in 20 minutes

Auston Bunsen, founder of Mobuilt, gave a great presentation at South Florida iPhone developers’ April meetup on how to build an iPhone application in 20 minutes using frameworks like or Safire, builded by Auston, or PhoneGap.
Safire should be released in the next couple of weeks, and I’m really looking forward to trying it myself.

    Good tutorial for those beginning in iphone development. Right now there is a ton of money in the industry and this is a great place to start.

      You’ve got the point here. iOS and Android OS app development is a humongous market now, and as any huge market there’s also a hard competition as well. Forget everyone who said that you can build an awesome app in 5-20 minutes. Well, you may do that, but your app would be worth nothing. First thing to point out here, you need to do the market research and see what apps are already there live at AppStore. Now, think what would you like to share with everyone around the world through your app, and this will be your start-up idea. You may use a online app building tool to save some time, avoiding the programming routine, and to design the app at the same time. Try using SeattleClouds.com, you may select a starter application template and design it further on. In addition, I would like to give you a tip, make your first app as a free of charge one for the beginning, then do the research and see how many downloads you get per day/week/month and so on. Start using iAd Network and/or AdMob. No doubts that if you spend some extra time on this, developing apps, you be able to make the paid ones then. This industry evolves with huge steps, do not miss your chance to get into it and start earning money this way.

      As well you can try snappii.com where apps can be made with no programming skills. It’s based not only on templates but on WYSIWYG editor as well which can be easily used to drag and drop tabs you need in your app.RSS feeds to receive feedback,Nearby to determine your locations. You have site so it will be possible to use html code inside apps. Besides it’s not expensive.

    Good read – I’d like to add that when choosing a place to develop your app really read the fine print (terms and conditions). Some places state they will own your app and simply pay you royalties… not many people read the T&C. I’d like to learn how to code.. but it is beyond me.
    I use a place that only pays the developer once the app is complete. The money sits in escrow – http://www.rentacoder.com- it works flawlessly. I have had some apps done for as little as $100. So, if the developer doesnt finish the project they dont get paid. Often things happen and coders walk off or simply try to run – this is a great way to keep everyonein line with the project. Thanks again from a great read!

    I did a little research on frameworks like phonegap. I found it was not very smooth to navigate back and forth in a typical tableview app on simulator, which is actually not surprising. Anyway, phonegap is very promising, especially considering Apple said they would not reject phonegap apps only because it’s built on phonegap.

    Hi Davide,

    Wow! It would be great to actually build an app in 20 minutes. I must try it.

    I am a little uncertain of the outcome though. Building an excellent app takes knowledge and “app intelligence” (as I call it).
    I started creating apps by reading an e-book that actually taught me everything I needed to know. I strongly recommend it to any new or experienced developer, as it helps you enrich your insights and calibrate your app even better.

      Building iPhone apps is no longer a problem even though you lack in programming skills now. There’s a bunch of web based app builded tools giving almost everyone to build their own apps. I personally use SeattleClouds ( http://seattleclouds.com ) online app building tool. You may simply select a starter application template there, design its appearance, add some interactivity to your app, etc. The main problem though is how bad you want that app, and you should think thoroughly about the main idea, goal it should bring to the end user. Keep in mind that Apple keeps on rejecting simple applications, like web clippings. Thus, interactivity is what you need to think about clearly. Some tips here, you may add an interactive map if promoting your business, use push notifications, add a Facebook Fan page, a Feedback page, a RSS Feed page, etc. You’ll be surprised to see what you can actually achieve if you invest some extra time in making your app. Cheers!
