We had a great speaker at last night’s Refresh Miami: Matthew Wensing, co-founder of Stormpulse.com.
Here are some of the things people can learn from his story:

Success doesn’t come overnight

The amount of traffic you can get doesn’t matter if you can’t monetize it properly

Try to leverage companies that already have a distribution channel in place

Don’t undersell yourself

Try to identify the hole left in the market by your competitors and go after that

Identify your shortcomings but focus on your strengths

Posted in Whatever

I was going to post a review (probably a screencast) about Clicky, a very cool analytic tool I have been trying for a couple of week, but then Guy Kawasaki posted on Twitter an article he wrote for the American Express Open Forum titled “The Art of Bootstrapping”.

I couldn’t not noticing how most of the points he came out with perfectly match with what I have been saying about micro-developing, so I decided to write this small post to highlight the content of that article.

Here’s the 10 suggestions he gives:

Focus on cash flow, not profitability

Forecast from the bottom up

Ship, then test

Forget the proven team

Start as a service business

Focus on function, not form

Pick a few battles

Understaff

Go direct

Position against the leader

You can find the full article here. It’s really worth a read.
